First Time Copic User In The House :)

Apr-21 077Last Saturday, I was at my local scrapbook store that just happens to be owned by a friend of mine.  After standing at the copic rack for 30 minutes or more trying to figure out how the stink to figure out the numbering system, lol, I decided to give up figuring and just get one of each pastel color .. so 1 green, 1 blue, 1 pink etc etc.  My friend, and the owner, happened to walk by so I told her what I was doing.  The look of horror on her face told me that this was a big no-no.  So I ask what I was suppose to do because I didn’t have a clue how they worked.  Well, just my luck that there was a free class scheduled to happen about an hour later.  So I grabbed a few markers in 1 color tone with her help (because you needed 3 for the class), paid for them and went to grab a tea while I waited for the class to start.  Apr-21 078

Can I just tell you now that I love COPICS!!  After the class was over I came home to try my hand at coloring one of my Tilda stamps.  I think I did a pretty decent job, lol.  I can only imagine the $$’s I’ll be spending now trying to build my copic collection up!  (just don’t tell my hubby, lol)

  1. You did a FANTASTIC job of copic coloring for such a newbie! I've yet to even pick up a copic...they seem so intimidating. I'm happy for now with my Bics from Wally World!

  3. Hey ladies, thanks for the compliments. I have the Bic Mark-Its from Walmart and love them, too. I also have the Stampin' Up pastels (chalk), watercolor crayons and paint, and fancy pencil crayons BUT there is definitely something to be said for the copics. I was skeptical at first but my friend promised me that I would come out of that 90 minute class knowing everything I needed to know to give me a great start and she was right. I encourage you both to check your area for a free class and give it a try. It's really not as hard is it seems.

  4. I gave copics a go a while back and now seem to be forever getting new colours! I absolutely love using them but always see another colour that I just have to have!!!

  5. Aha, I know what you mean, Suze. I just found out that Michael's carry a few colors, too, but they are a little more money than what my friend sells them for so I will still be visiting her store. I made a copic chart to keep track of the colors I have. It's small enough to keep in my purse and reference when I'm shopping. Kind of hard to describe so I think I will take a picture of it and write a post on how it works.

  6. I'm very impressed. You may be new with copics, but you are clearly an artist. I love those Tilda stamps; just adorable!

  8. You did a wonderful job for a first-timer Sharon! They are incredibly addictive and I love nothing better than coloring! So keep having fun and keep practicing--that is most of the battle of learning them!
