This month we are playing with watercolors and you won't want to miss the amazing and fun cards we've got for you today.  We really love feedback, so please leave a comment on each of the blogs in today's hop. Each comment on the 12 hops throughout the year will be entered into a drawing for a $25 Blitsy.com or Stampin' Up gift certificate (Winner's Choice).  Now on with the projects.

I was excited about this month’s hop because watercoloring is something I’ve been wanting to do more of.  My girls got me the 60 pack of Zig Clean Color Real Brush Watercolor markers for Mother’s Day and this was the perfect opportunity to practice my skills (or lack thereof, lol).

I used my Zig pens to color in a page from an adult coloring book I purchased.  It’s not bad for my first attempt but I definitely have some more practicing to do.  I added a sentiment and a butterfly to the card to finish it.

For my second card I dabbed some Tim Holtz Distress Ink onto my craft mat and spritzed it with water.  Then I laid a piece of watercolor paper from the Recollections Color Splash Resist Paper Pad on top and smooshed the ink around.   I didn’t really like where it was going so I took that piece of paper and cut it into strips then weaved them together to make a card.  I added a clear jelly sentiment sticker to the front to finish it off.  Simple yet I still feel it’s pretty.

My last card was created using the Recollections Watercolor Crayons.  I love these things because they are so pretty and shimmery although you can’t really see the shimmer in this picture, but, trust me, it’s there. I embossed a piece of watercolor paper with a large flower background stamp.  I covered some clear acetate with some of the different crayons and spritzed water over them to blend them together.  Then I laid my embossed watercolor paper over the top and rubbed over it with my hands to spread the ink around.  I layered that onto a piece of teal cardstock and adhered it to my white card base.  I added the sentiment and ribbon to finish it off.

That’s it for me.  Next in line is the fabulous Lisa.

  6. First, what a fantastic Mother's Day gift your girls gave you! You certainly made good use of them! That first card is beautiful...the black in it really makes the colors pop right off the card. The second card...so clever! I wondered how you were going to use those pieces in your sneak peek! I've got to try that weaving! The last card has such a soft, ethereal look. I've never used water crayons...they sure give a great finish! As always, it's a pleasure to hop with and know you!

  7. OMG . . . color! Love all that color in the first two cards. Fabulous. You've inspired me on that first card . . . use my Zig pens! Will try to do that very soon, as those pens have not gotten enough love from me. So thanks for the inspiration.
