Once all the images were scanned, I arranged them the way that I liked and grouped them together. I used an offset of .075 so that I had an outline of the image that would allow for a white border once I adhered the pieces to it. I used the pop-up feature that is in the software to create the pop-up for my image. <em>[For an explanation of how this feature works, see </em></font><a href="https://www.stampcolorandcreate.com/2018/09/its-cupcake-kind-of-day.html" target="_blank"><strong><font face="Calibri" size="4"><em>this post</em></font></strong></a><font face="Calibri" size="4"><em> where I share the instructions and another cute card].</em></font></p><p><font face="Calibri" size="4">Since the image was already in my software and grouped how I wanted it, I printed it off so that I could color it using my Prismacolor Pencils. Once I finished coloring the image, I fussy cut it and adhered it to the pop-up. Next, I stamped and fussy cut the ornaments and candy canes and adhered those to the trees. I stamped my sentiment onto some white cardstock and punched it out with my circle punch. Then I sponged around the edges with some Close To My Heart Cranberry ink and adhered that to the pop-up layer. I adhered the pop-up layer to the inside of my burgundy card base.</font></p><p><font face="Calibri" size="4">Once the inside was complete, it was time to start working on the front of my card. I kept it pretty simple.</font></p><p><font face="Calibri" size="4"><br></font></p><p><font face="Calibri" size="4"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEivEyZ153nNwcYhjK3So7mMCxK4Saj7giJB6-Yh0RCpX24n_GZ8TR3KTnfdiiHqSX2bb_trVuptmSqtw1_zZJCR8ZLI2wIrk1u_VjR7LtqtxA-8nHRzlhdB7KfMb7svRlWfFnNEKZJMjriX/s1600-h/Reindeer1+Pop-Up-WM_scac2018%255B13%255D"><img width="487" height="461" title="Reindeer1 Pop-Up-WM_scac2018" style="border-image: none; margin-right: auto; margin-left: auto; float: none; display: block; background-image: none;" alt="Reindeer1 Pop-Up-WM_scac2018" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi8JTuq49l8GOt39uYmwfpA4SVt9Y27eXC3F87HbFsxftKxpXlmDLdm3QWIVcFrk0VVhcn5zPo_npIyYtQdAzEpWynLRr6MnNNnnm0tH8AaEyuGQo-KRhdNAYKbCSE9hcGKskpGliQHnZYy/?imgmax=800" border="0"></a></font></p><p><font face="Calibri" size="4"><br></font></p><p><font face="Calibri" size="4">I printed off some digital paper and adhered that to the front of the card. Then I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut a large burgundy star for the mat, and a smaller white star that I added the “may your Holiday be LIT” sentiment to. This sentiment comes with the stamp set. I adhered those together and then added a clear jewel to each point of the star and adhered it to the front of the card.</font></p><p><font face="Calibri" size="4"><br></font></p><font face="Calibri" size="4"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhjN36Oiz_ywjJZoDZ4dZDLroyogLZKQM0LKZbLx9C3P_Pblmu7no-u9KlVvT3k_-ZrmFXPSSfsByRhXD5fCfU-e9mnnVrfG4HSueCmezbAxBSZ6csBdLc6kbg1zLlTQXl4EXBzUQH6TZCA/s1600-h/Reindeer3+Pop-Up-WM_scac2018%255B10%255D"><img width="312" height="384" title="Reindeer3 Pop-Up-WM_scac2018" align="left" style="border: 0px currentcolor; border-image: none; float: left; display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="Reindeer3 Pop-Up-WM_scac2018" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh7gWmiXuzNnC2mi6pcKbrklLY3D-1qQ2QSnEuFF_dkHyiS-XrEDupjRITy5xkpqwReWDJUrMNvyX2I29nM986Jg9U7g2mGpvhbCm8IYUZyO0buquI8CRDu1ttYuQNsCQF9rmuD__36txKG/?imgmax=800" border="0"><br></a></font><p><font face="Calibri" size="4"><br></font></p><p><font face="Calibri" size="4"><br></font></p><p><font face="Calibri" size="4">Here is another look at the inside just before I added the ornaments. Aren’t they so adorable! I colored this image with Prismacolor Pencils and a blender pen. I popped it up to add some dimension to the tag. I’m still learning how to color with pencils. I’m enjoying the process, though.</font></p><div><font face="Calibri" size="4">There are 3 jingle bells strung on some red striped twine and hung across the top of the tag. There is nothing very special about this card. The papers are from <strong>Pixel Scrapper</strong>. They are digital so I printed them on cardstock and cut the shapes out using my Silhouette Cameo. I used an image and sentiment from My Favorite Things “<strong>Hog Heaven</strong>” set and colored it with my PrismaColor Pencils. I purchased this set from <strong><a href="https://www.maplesyrupdesigns.com/" target="_blank">Maple Syrup Designs</a></strong> – a new Canadian company that I highly recommend. The owner, Colleen Tyler, is amazing and very willing to answer any questions you might have. Shipping was super fast. I’ll definitely be buying from her again. If you are looking for a great online store go check her out, especially if you are Canadian. You won’t be sorry.</font></p><p><p><font face="Calibri" size="4">That’s all from me today. This time my theme was friendship and I found the cutest image on google. Did you know that just because an image is on google that does not mean it’s free to use? It may not seem like a big deal to you, but, as a designer, I really struggle with the fact that many people think google is a free for all. It’s not. Luckily, there is a way to make sure you are using an image that you have permission to use by filtering google so that it only shows you images that are free to use. By doing this you don’t risk infringing on someone’s copyright. It’s quite easy.<br><br><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi1civGxk6pJC0d_MU_ztQv8DPQanne3rtydRSX9MPzYiqaKvmenIdAI4qf6Sv3jjLxgHrrJwIu7eSN617viMkbzIs1jq5Ccqflr9WAY9jypT1u8ekbFtfyZFQVAWDAEeHAQsDmxosN0IKZ/s1600-h/image9"><br></a></font></p><font face="Calibri" size="4"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi1civGxk6pJC0d_MU_ztQv8DPQanne3rtydRSX9MPzYiqaKvmenIdAI4qf6Sv3jjLxgHrrJwIu7eSN617viMkbzIs1jq5Ccqflr9WAY9jypT1u8ekbFtfyZFQVAWDAEeHAQsDmxosN0IKZ/s1600-h/image9"><img width="556" height="95" title="image" style="border-image: none; margin-right: auto; margin-left: auto; float: none; display: block; background-image: none;" alt="image" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi_UfRPr2-wBG-5x_vz1YZyHHvusAQQNNLyQ3rkc9w_TAzMMyuY7eUi6ZpzBZUIIcVnYflutJJcftrxj3xw81AkhTZp5huIe3wHVmCmcVnhWGac7Iu513TdsvnrYFJPT-dfnafJmflPtuZ4/?imgmax=800" border="0"></a></font><font face="Calibri" size="4"><p align="left"><br>Just type what you are looking for in the google search bar (make sure<strong> IMAGES</strong> is selected) and then you can select <strong>TOOLS</strong> and choose the <strong>usage rights</strong> you desire. I found my inspiration for this card from none other than the great Jennifer McGuire. This type of card is called a set-back card. It’s made by using a stamp that comes with a die cut (but see my hack below using a Silhouette Cameo). I’ll place a link to her YouTube video demonstrating this technique at the end of this post.</font></p><p><font face="Calibri" size="4"><br></font></p><p><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWzoxqldENQBSw02IiYeRtHoyjFzA2WNN8XiG0F-yFtAyKB92R3l0qjO9r10TmFSjOk7kq6Dv5WztxJ1A_AHsd9DWQAvixlPQIvPeSSTsOFFCzWqBhWXrkd_OEMXRp-njr22XkJrPgY3nd/s1600-h/Set-Back+Flowed+Sorry+For+Your+Loss-WM_scac2018%255B12%255D"><font face="Calibri" size="4"><img width="466" height="441" title="Set-Back Flowed Sorry For Your Loss-WM_scac2018" style="border: 0px currentcolor; border-image: none; margin-right: auto; margin-left: auto; float: none; display: block; background-image: none;" alt="Set-Back Flowed Sorry For Your Loss-WM_scac2018" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgh4Ey7oHyCOsswDunlUebIMfFhgvA5nEkKdzz9iuiJeQI9FDzrWCSakzYHKo_oYti_acUtPo2e_4N64Qd6vdpsSLSwoPaejSL9ovicHsZAzn8ngEa_fZe_7CxHLkFb79ea7o8a2OdvgOT8/?imgmax=800" border="0"></font></a></p><p><font face="Calibri" size="4"><br></font></p><font face="Calibri" size="4"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg0xM4brhPfIOw9raeGCa7XyEIpWN1wVqSn6UuDVwRt5omU_P0oX1gfIjy0D4vnHv37vyK5iC4CIn_hbv2umw9TmLIvdG7XasdkN5r0ZQOGTMObT6X6MYYWAPW6wear4rGId7kwqlfqkzF1/s1600-h/image%255B11%255D"><img width="354" height="298" title="image" align="left" style="border: 0px currentcolor; border-image: none; float: left; display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="image" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEifPWzzJjwxMZ0vNW8lqqIpdRDKJa4W-aRKPpRdMC2qljP2gl0yWdMUGj8ncJZHHzw1Shir5wQfh7GD3RKKdiyLXLShYdohOQWBmSGVNyKESQK16233yipWW8IqG9MU-FEvngEfRi5sP1Zu/?imgmax=800" border="0"></a><font face="Calibri" size="4">Since I didn’t have an appropriate stamp with a diecut, I decided to create my own with my Cameo and a digital image. I added a sentiment to the card to finish it off. Jennifer added a strip of black cardstock along the top and bottom of the cutout panel but I forgot to do that. It’s wonderful to see you here. I’m so thrilled that I finally have this blog up and running. It’s been a long time coming. I do hope you like the new name and branding. It’s still a work in progress but so far I’m so pleased with it and I feel that I am to the point of being able to release it to the public. It’s taken me years to finally come up with a name and brand that I know I’m willing to stick with forever. </font></p><p><font face="Calibri" size="4">Moving forward, all posts that I make will be on this blog so please take a moment to use one of the methods I’ve provided to subscribe to this blog so that you will be notified when I post new things. These were made from a very simple template that I created and it makes a total of 4 cards. I love One Sheet Wonders because they make card making so simple. One of my followers asked me to share the template so I’m doing that today as well as an example of what the layouts should look like when you are done.</font></p><p><font face="Calibri" size="4">First I took one sheet of 6x6-inch paper and cut it into the following pieces:<br></font><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-Lxzw5034OZ8/W2s1VhAAJ6I/AAAAAAAAGxU/ld_l1uSDN2UYTPZf4jcOnP8CGoc5IjlRQCHMYCw/s1600-h/OSW-ocm2018%255B18%255D"><font face="Calibri" size="4"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-RycVv7NNejA/W2s1V7gh4UI/AAAAAAAAGxY/cjLlRdKJqqEHZZbff0K7gb_iCQPYAfAqwCHMYCw/s1600-h/OSW-ocm2018%255B19%255D"><br><img width="435" height="437" title="OSW-ocm2018" style="border: 0px currentcolor; border-image: none; margin-right: auto; margin-left: auto; float: none; display: block; background-image: none;" alt="OSW-ocm2018" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-9xEwIzBEKEo/W2swAdtZosI/AAAAAAAAGsw/X2J8WhX8X9INHqyISJrZJKXBQFCl3BpRgCHMYCw/OSW-ocm2018_thumb%255B7%255D?imgmax=800" border="0"></a></font></a></p><p><font face="Calibri" size="4"><br>The only thing you need to do once you’ve cut the 6x6-inch cardstock into the 3 pieces is cut the square in half diagonally.</font></p><p><font face="Calibri" size="4">You will need a piece of 8.5x11-inch colored cardstock for your layers that compliments the piece of 6x6-inch cardstock you chose. Cut this cardstock into 4 equal pieces as shown below:<br><br></font></p><p><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-gZUetHjyxnI/W2s1WlIYWgI/AAAAAAAAGxc/FqgMsAwrTqM8EP-SMc4_UYU4zkN3DGq7ACHMYCw/s1600-h/OSW-layers-ocm2018%255B12%255D"><font face="Calibri" size="4"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-4-R6cf1_P3E/W2s1XMHqNOI/AAAAAAAAGxg/WldiqfvtE8c5oye9xm6_r3RO00ibMpwqQCHMYCw/s1600-h/OSW-layers-ocm2018%255B13%255D"><img width="364" height="472" title="OSW-layers-ocm2018" style="border: 0px currentcolor; border-image: none; margin-right: auto; margin-left: auto; float: none; display: block; background-image: none;" alt="OSW-layers-ocm2018" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-sCVHjpJFoeU/W2swBUQMUvI/AAAAAAAAGs8/S7quAcaCgCUNPhd7injE-exafJjw5Y_5gCHMYCw/OSW-layers-ocm2018_thumb%255B7%255D?imgmax=800" border="0"></a></font></a></p><p><font face="Calibri" size="4"> <br>Now all you need to do is put your cards together. Easy peasy! I created some circular pieces for the sentiment and used a border punch to create my scalloped border. You can do whatever you like to dress yours up. Below is an example of the layouts. (Go <strong><a href="https://piece-ofheart.blogspot.com/2018/08/6x6-one-sheet-wonder.html" target="_blank">HERE</a></strong> to see the actual cards). You can see in my example below that the light pink areas are the 4x5.25-inch layering pieces, and the green, dark pink, and blue areas are from the 6x6-inch piece of cardstock. Adhere the finished product onto an A2-size card base. <br><br><br></font></p><p><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-H0vAnvIZkh0/W2szmQQNfBI/AAAAAAAAGwQ/Ct4g84rru8s1LS801-xCD-AzlFr8-g7MQCHMYCw/s1600-h/OSW-example%2Bcard%2Blayouts-ocm2018%255B16%255D"><img width="433" height="492" title="OSW-example card layouts-ocm2018" style="border: 0px currentcolor; border-image: none; margin-right: auto; margin-left: auto; float: none; display: block; background-image: none;" alt="OSW-example card layouts-ocm2018" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-otXQ5pEhLJ4/W2szmnZmZDI/AAAAAAAAGwU/PeS7sDtB_RMRRidCdnX-5ZP-zlwRlYo7wCHMYCw/OSW-example%2Bcard%2Blayouts-ocm2018_thumb%255B7%255D?imgmax=800" border="0"></a></p><p><font face="Calibri" size="4"><br></font></p><p><font face="Calibri" size="4">I hope this is helpful. <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiP4s_fAn1pDaffd4J3lfjkhXavUdqNfLh7km_PiWPja1T43SIOA8VAqI7OUSyDNuqFyarfyv_jRxykL-5zkOU-ZCBqWETRTc9trKNTCOWA7iH3uD-XxJuTKPAtmF0HD5xHfUCidTJZ1Qd8/s1600/reject.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="933" data-original-width="700" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiP4s_fAn1pDaffd4J3lfjkhXavUdqNfLh7km_PiWPja1T43SIOA8VAqI7OUSyDNuqFyarfyv_jRxykL-5zkOU-ZCBqWETRTc9trKNTCOWA7iH3uD-XxJuTKPAtmF0HD5xHfUCidTJZ1Qd8/s320/reject.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: medium;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: medium;">I was challenged to make a one-layer card in a new group that I joined on facebook (more on that later). I had an idea in my head of what I wanted to do but upon execution I wasn’t happy with the result. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: medium;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: medium;">My goal was to stamp an image and mask it off and then use my Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens to make a background. Easy- peasy-pretty right?! Ummm, nope, nada, no siree, lol. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: medium;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: medium;"><br /><br /></span><br />
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: medium;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: medium;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: medium;">I picked out the colors I wanted and, after using an acrylic block to scribble the marker on, I added some water. I dipped the a paint brush into the watered-down ink and ran my fingers over the brush hairs to create flecks of colored drops across the cardstock. I did this with each color I chose. As you can see in the photo, it turned out terribly. When I masked off the image I used a post it note and applied it to the bottom corner on top of the image. This left me with a square edge around the image and I did not like that so I tried adding flecks of paint, first by just dabbing the pen straight to the paper – nope, not a good idea, lol – and then using the same technique as above with the paint brush. I didn’t like that the flecks covered up the image in some places and it just ended up being very messy. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: medium;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: medium;">So I came up with another idea. </span><span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: medium;">Instead of flicking the paint off the brush with my fingers, I dabbed the brush into my watered-down ink and then blotted it on a paper towel. Then I took the brush and dabbed the cardstock in random places. I did this for each color that I chose to use. As I layered on the ink, the colors became more vibrant. I think the 2nd idea resulted in a much better outcome. What do you think?</span><br />

<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: medium;"><br />So, what’s with the spoon on the card you ask? “Spoonies” is a term used for people who battle chronic illness on a daily basis. The term “spoonie” originated from <a href="http://www.butyoudontlooksick.com/articles/written-by-christine/the-spoon-theory/" target="_blank"><strong>The Spoon Theory</strong></a>, a story written by Christine Miserandino. Essentially, the Spoon Theory illustrates the challenges that someone living with a chronic illness faces every day. As anyone living with a chronic illness can attest, taking medicine, crying in pain, or struggling through the simple tasks of life are hard enough but then factor in the reality that the illness, which happens to be “invisible,” is difficult for even good friends and family to truly understand. Chronic illnesses can range from fibromyalgia, lupus, chronic pain, depression or other mood disorders, and chronic fatigue, among others. Because a spoonie is relatively mentally and physically healthy <strong><em><u>in appearance</u></em></strong>,<strong> </strong>it’s very hard to explain what it feels like to live with a chronic illness.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: medium;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: medium;">One day, Christine was out for lunch with a friend when her friend asked her what it felt like to have lupus. She started to tell her all about the aches and pains and medications but her friend kept pursuing and wasn’t satisfied with those answers. Christine, realizing that words alone were not going to cut it, grabbed some spoons and began illustrating her life with lupus. She laid the handful of spoons out on the table and explained that the spoons symbolize all of a patient’s daily energy reserves. Every activity, no matter how thoughtless and automatic, depletes from the energy supply. Getting out of bed, showering, brushing your teeth, getting dressed, eating, and any number of ordinary tasks threaten to deplete energy at any given time. The longer the list of activities, the less spoons available to move on to the next task. Very quickly her friend realized that, with every spoon taken away, it makes it more difficult for a person with chronic illness to keep up with daily tasks and responsibilities. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: medium;"><br />I started this post by mentioning a group that I’ve recently found on facebook where people living with chronic illness, like myself, can gather for support. It’s a place where we share our crafty creations but also feel safe enough to share our struggles. The group was created by Rachel Winn who is a fabulous encourager. If you consider yourself a spoonie, we would love to have you join us in our <a href="https://www.facebook.com/groups/2113088498732409/" target="_blank"><strong>“Stampers Without Spoons” facebook group</strong></a><strong>.</strong></span><br />
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: medium;">Last, but not least, I want to give a shoutout to <a href="https://www.facebook.com/groups/bethduffdesigns/" target="_blank"><strong>Beth Duff Designs</strong></a>. She’s a relatively new designer on the scene (to me, anyhow) and she’s wonderful. Her facebook group is how I found out about the spoonie group so thank you Beth! You can find her <a href="https://www.facebook.com/groups/bethduffdesigns/" target="_blank"><strong>facebook group here</strong></a> and her <a href="https://duffsdesign.com/" target="_blank"><strong>shop here</strong></a>. Please go take a look. I’m certain you will like what you find.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: medium;"><br />Thanks for stopping by. I will be back again soon with more cards to share.</span>stamp-color-and createhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13259244119020127363noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2641686502901080795.post-48415060607212814782018-08-05T22:31:00.000-04:002018-08-10T21:00:03.855-04:006x6-One Sheet Wonder<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">So I’m into these one sheet wonders for some reason. They are great when you are fresh out of inspiration and I’ve definitely fallen victim to that lately. I made a some cards using a 6x6 sheet of pink and gold foiled cardstock. I actually made 4 cards but I’m only showing three of them because I gave the other 1 away before taking pictures…whoops.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br />Take a peek…</span><br />

I have no excuse other than the mojo took a little vacation. The winter months are the hardest for me and this winter was a doozy. We had ice storms and blizzards in April which is crazy. But now I’m gearing up for summer with some time off work and I’m feeling a little craftier.</font></p><font face="Calibri" size="3">
<p>In June, my daughter asked me to make her a card for her piano student who was graduating. I decided to go with black, grey, and white as the theme.<br></p><br>
<div class="separator" style="text-align: center; clear: both;">
<a style="margin-right: 1em; margin-left: 1em;" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg8G_9eZo2zSVluS5iYkxFbhjnf2AJUFy_l4XEvoQOKUar2wBQzyi-plXUwYjnFd6j6-ToktuiYmRnR5-6NS6K2XS8YBJH2nk_kuY54fNoXfuD922Cs6XJQb-nSkt9prh2Ot-FMj-ZQk4WB/s1600/Congrats+Grad-WM_scac2018.jpg" imageanchor="1"><img width="400" height="377" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg8G_9eZo2zSVluS5iYkxFbhjnf2AJUFy_l4XEvoQOKUar2wBQzyi-plXUwYjnFd6j6-ToktuiYmRnR5-6NS6K2XS8YBJH2nk_kuY54fNoXfuD922Cs6XJQb-nSkt9prh2Ot-FMj-ZQk4WB/s400/Congrats+Grad-WM_scac2018.jpg" border="0" data-original-width="700" data-original-height="662"></a></div>
<br>
<br>I set off to my favorite place for free digital paper – <a href="https://www.pixelscrapper.com/" target="_blank"><strong>PixelScrapper</strong></a> – and found a really great striped paper to coordinate with a paper covered in “grad” text, and a diploma paper. You can sign up for <strong>PixelScrapper</strong> for <strong>FREE</strong> which gets you 5 free downloads per day. It’s awesome!<br><br>
I used my Silhouette Cameo Designer Software to create the “Congrats Grad” embellishment. Once I had it designed, I cut it several times on black paper and layered each one on top of the other. I find the best way to adhere them together is to mount a Stick It Adhesive Sheet to my black cardstock before cutting. Then I peel the backing off each die-cut piece and stick them together. I layered them one on top of the other 4 times to get the thickness I desired. <br><br>
To finish the embellishment off, I tapped my Versamark Inkpad all over the top of it, covered it with clear embossing powder and heat-set it to give it a shine. I did that a couple of times for added depth.<br><br>
I didn’t take a picture of the inside but I adhered a piece of white cardstock matted with black cardstock to the inside and added a banner using the grad text paper.<br><br>
I hope you enjoyed this card and I look forward to sharing more with you again very soon. Please, if you like what you see here, share the blog to your friends in the craft world. I’d love to meet them.</font>StampColorandCreatehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00816257760722473821noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2641686502901080795.post-15937709983251516782018-04-19T21:49:00.000-04:002018-08-10T22:25:06.826-04:00She’s Not My Mother…<p>Let me explain what I mean by that. One Mother’s Day, my children asked their father why he didn’t get me a Mother’s Day card. He responded with “she’s not my mother” at which point they reminded him that I may not be his mother, but I AM the mother of his children. Let’s just say that he learned his lesson and every year since, I have received a lovely card from him *grin*.</p><p>I’ve always made my husband a card on Father’s Day and this year was no different. I made this card to thank him for being such a wonderful husband and a fabulous father to our children. The image was a free digi from Designed 2 Delight. Her webpage is no longer active so, unfortunately, I cannot provide a link. The sentiment was created by me.</p><p>I kept it pretty simple. My copics were used to color this card and I added some twine type ribbon to the bottom. I hope he enjoys this cards as much as I enjoyed making it for him.</p><p><br></p><p>

A lot has gone on but I am back up and running again and looking forward to sharing my cards with you again. But first, let me tell you a little bit of what’s been happening in my life.</p><p>My youngest daughter (25) had what was supposed to be “routine” gallbladder surgery on the morning of February 2nd. The surgery went well and we brought her home that afternoon at around 3pm. My oldest daughter is a youth leader at our Church and at 4pm. I drove her to the Church to meet up with the youth group as they were going away for the weekend. While I was driving home, I stopped at the drive-thru to grab my husband and I some dinner as we hadn’t eaten much all day. </p><p>While waiting at the drive-thru I got a call from my husband to let me know not to be alarmed when I arrived home and saw that there was an ambulance in front of our house. He said my daughter had a seizure and was bleeding quite heavily out of one of the incisions....enough to completely saturate the shirt she was wearing, the sheets on her bed, and the heating pad she had for her sore shoulder due to the gas they use to blow your abdomen up during surgery. Imagine hearing all this while being trapped in a drive-thru line with nowhere to go.<p>To make a very long story shorter, a blood vessel was nicked when removing the laproscopy instruments and, after several days of ups and downs (mostly downs), my daughter ended up needing a blood transfusion. What was considered to be a routine day surgery ended up being a 5 day hospital stay and 6 weeks off work. She finally went back to work full-time this past week.<p>March was spent with my entire family experiencing an extremely horrible stomach flu. One would just get over it and the next one started. Not fun!<p>I think things are pretty much back to normal and I look forward to getting back into my craft room. I actually spent a day in there last weekend making a card and I will share that in the next post.<p>Thanks for sticking by me. I’ll see you in the next post!</p>stamp-color-and createhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13259244119020127363noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2641686502901080795.post-86963332775382765282018-01-08T08:00:00.000-05:002018-08-09T23:00:56.769-04:00Learning To Color<p><font face="Calibri" size="3">Since I had some time off over Christmas and the New Year, I decided I would treat myself to some coloring lessons over at <a href="https://www.kitandclowder.com/" target="_blank"><strong>Kit and Clowder</strong></a>. I’m loving it! Owner and teacher, Alyce Keegan, is an amazing artist and teacher. She puts so much of herself into her classes and is one of the most encouraging, motivating, and inspiring people I know. </font></p><p><font face="Calibri" size="3">I have done 2 lessons so far and I wanted to share my finished pieces with you. The first piece is not really my style but I’m learning that it’s ok to step outside of the box sometimes and it was fun to learn some techniques such as coloring eyes, hair, and skin just to name a few. Isn’t she pretty?!</font><br><br><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiBl0xt8oRiuob2OtwBJEz-tHQMBKbcNH5rhvF8sM58d4QdZT0YxNeceiun5ErwComJVtdQEijicBbChHaMQI8JMZNF-iMQCCaZ_3ZRuHoBHbrQlAAULVHK3nCsGiv-OoiUj4OjHXwdwsNq/s1600-h/Finished+Work%255B11%255D"><br></a></p><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/--BSo7qEg70g/WlQYZhplOvI/AAAAAAAAGgQ/HlhIxJG0VA0iRbRHasgGEAdKbv-oIfPAACHMYCw/s1600-h/Finished%2BWork%255B12%255D"><img width="361" height="490" title="Finished Work" style="border: 0px currentcolor; border-image: none; margin-right: auto; margin-left: auto; float: none; display: block; background-image: none;" alt="Finished Work" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-A2Of1QhXkCc/WlQXu-RY_6I/AAAAAAAAGf8/8tY7-qn_xpc6hdwpQ3KsU_rMo6CZXUmJACHMYCw/Finished%2BWork_thumb%255B6%255D?imgmax=800" border="0"></a><p><br><br><font face="Calibri" size="3">The second class focused on coloring fur. There is a lot of room for improvement here but I’m super happy with how this piece turned out. It was interesting to learn how to put texture on cookies to make them look more realistic. Don’t they look scrumptious?! I bet you are hungry now, lol.</font><br><br><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-ZZLFcEwVs9U/WlQXvBX-vSI/AAAAAAAAGgA/0UBW_hXbaFcld2gmVWK0waDhlDHL6Pb9gCHMYCw/s1600-h/Finished%2BWork%255B13%255D"><br><img width="561" height="400" title="Finished Work" style="border: 0px currentcolor; border-image: none; margin-right: auto; margin-left: auto; float: none; display: block; background-image: none;" alt="Finished Work" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-n2DbJbYqHfo/WlQXvvtoVVI/AAAAAAAAGgE/_Olj_3JPNHAciUwSSYfpagvG8aVumcrJgCHMYCw/Finished%2BWork_thumb%255B7%255D?imgmax=800" border="0"></a></p><p><br><font face="Calibri" size="3">The classes that I purchased were part of a monthly subscription, however, there are still some very good free resources to be found and even a free coloring lesson (Markers 101) that you can grab if you visit the site. The Markers 101 lesson is a great source for learning techniques such as shading, highlighting, blending, etc. so I highly recommend having a look. There are also individual classes if you don’t want an ongoing subscription (although you can opt out of the subscription at anytime). <em>[Sidenote: This is <strong>NOT</strong> a sponsored post. I just really like what’s offered there and wanted to share it with all of you].</em></font></p><p><font face="Calibri" size="3">After being home for the past 2 weeks, it's back to work for me tomorrow. I was super stoked to use my new <a href="https://gsd-stamps.com/products/playful-kitten-clearstamp-set" target="_blank"><strong>Gerda Steiner Clear Stamps – Playful Kittens</strong></a> on this card. <span style="vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"><font style="font-size: 13pt;"> To start, I lined up my masking paper along the bottom of a piece of cardstock that I cut out with my stitched rectangle die and used a sponge dauber to create a “floor” for my cat in the suitcase to sit on. As you can see in the picture, it leaves a very crisp line. I stamped my image just above the sponged area and colored it in with Spectrum Noir markers TN3, TN4, & TN5. The cat was colored using Spectrum Noir markers IG1, IG2, & a little CR3 for the inside of the ears. I stamped a sentiment from the same <strong><a href="https://gsd-stamps.com/products/playful-kitten-clearstamp-set" target="_blank">Gerda Steiner set</a></strong> in the blank white space. I mounted this onto some Kraft paper to complete this very clean & simple card.</font></span></font></span></p><p style="line-height: 1.38; margin-top: 0pt; margin-bottom: 21pt;" dir="ltr"><span style="vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-QXNfzPvXKi0/Wg9ywZ39KaI/AAAAAAAAGcY/6MuzB63f_4sVno3zD_ZBRhc86_EJejXowCHMYCw/s1600-h/Card-3wm%255B7%255D"><img width="416" height="448" title="Card-3wm" style="border: 0px currentcolor; border-image: none; margin-right: auto; margin-left: auto; float: none; display: block; background-image: none;" alt="Card-3wm" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-HFtnsA054cc/Wg9yyA6U5NI/AAAAAAAAGcc/z-4-5wzM1tMi4DliS2mc0ttNFYqTxBFkwCHMYCw/Card-3wm_thumb%255B4%255D?imgmax=800" border="0"></a></span></p><p style="line-height: 1.38; margin-top: 0pt; margin-bottom: 21pt;" dir="ltr"><br></p><p style="line-height: 1.38; margin-top: 0pt; margin-bottom: 21pt;" dir="ltr"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-a4ZZTZ7EaeU/Wg935OopVAI/AAAAAAAAGdw/mOMAoUjXJc8K3c7HSn3qUgELKCSVPqulwCHMYCw/s1600-h/Card-2wm%255B9%255D"><img width="350" height="393" title="Card-2wm" align="left" style="border: 0px currentcolor; border-image: none; float: left; display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="Card-2wm" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-1dFx7JkWUgU/Wg935vdnC8I/AAAAAAAAGd0/7iwqXmTxUxUBZdYosGrTuilOBv7LA8RrgCHMYCw/Card-2wm_thumb%255B6%255D?imgmax=800" border="0"></a><span style="vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"><font style="font-size: 13pt;">The second card is pretty easy as well. I cut a digital sentiment out of some post-it-note paper. I then laid that post-it-note piece where I wanted it to be on my cardstock and pressed it down firmly to make sure that none of the edges were lifted. With my <a href="https://claritystamp.com/products/claritystencil-brushes-set-of-4?variant=6954421441" target="_blank"><strong>Clarity Stencil Brushes</strong></a>, I used 4 different colors of <a href="http://rangerink.com/?product=tim-holtz%C2%AE-distress-ink-pads" target="_blank"><strong>Tim Holtz Distress Ink</strong></a><strong> <em>(Tattered Rose, Broken China, Mustard Seed, and Peeled Paint)</em> </strong>and brushed them across my cardstock on an angle blending each color into the other. Using these brushes produces a very soft look. </font></span></p><p style="line-height: 1.38; margin-top: 0pt; margin-bottom: 21pt;" dir="ltr"><span style="vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"><font style="font-size: 13pt;">When I was finished, I peeled the post-it-note off the card stock to reveal a very crisp, clean sentiment. <span style="vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"><font style="font-size: 13pt;">I added a ribbon and adhered it to some blue cardstock to complete another clean & simple card.</font></span></font></span></p><table align="center" border="1" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="2"><tbody><tr><td valign="top"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-9mfJePFZlEk/Wg9yzjiY1yI/AAAAAAAAGco/S_ZRtcrINd8vJAjkZqp5irHBclSqpZ1aQCHMYCw/s1600-h/Post%2BIt%2BNote%255B5%255D"><img width="169" height="195" title="Post It Note" style="border: 0px currentcolor; border-image: none; display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="Post It Note" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-REH7iYXRvrA/Wg9y0vy_aDI/AAAAAAAAGcs/x9vAwIjTOioJHNptmOY1rL29kcwA6v4oACHMYCw/Post%2BIt%2BNote_thumb%255B3%255D?imgmax=800" border="0"></a></td><td valign="top"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-IAHvc2EeMT8/Wg9y1JPxILI/AAAAAAAAGcw/ipqC3gQZoJcAD_DTmOvuiePqQ_H0-4itQCHMYCw/s1600-h/Sneak%2BPeek%255B5%255D"><img width="146" height="195" title="Sneak Peek" style="border: 0px currentcolor; border-image: none; display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="Sneak Peek" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-xEer4dY-cv8/Wg9y1nCoKjI/AAAAAAAAGc0/gAIKmiYMGrspU6MuPwPhgVPDMZaOeGXIwCHMYCw/Sneak%2BPeek_thumb%255B3%255D?imgmax=800" border="0"></a></td><td valign="top"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-MHTQKHKNIIg/Wg9y1wC3-2I/AAAAAAAAGc4/glhipyoHucYOYCM53Ilmn8b7x2FpCQ1FgCHMYCw/s1600-h/Sneak%2BPeek%2B4%255B4%255D"><img width="146" height="195" title="Sneak Peek 4" style="border: 0px currentcolor; border-image: none; display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="Sneak Peek 4" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-fmPDZhg_hiQ/Wg9y2IhTUiI/AAAAAAAAGc8/vqgkbMrrPfkObJebUR92I4nq1bNO4bNfACHMYCw/Sneak%2BPeek%2B4_thumb%255B2%255D?imgmax=800" border="0"></a></td></tr></tbody></table><p><br></p><p><span style="vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"><font style="font-size: 13pt;"></font></span><p><font style="font-size: 13pt;"><br></font></p><p style="line-height: 1.38; margin-top: 0pt; margin-bottom: 21pt;" dir="ltr"><span style="vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"><font style="font-size: 13pt;"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-imAO1GQC7Yg/Wg9y2g4fUqI/AAAAAAAAGdA/a5ANHYaseoYyhJdjfKRcFduCe-LY3FuNQCHMYCw/s1600-h/Card-1wm%255B5%255D"><img width="401" height="420" title="Card-1wm" align="right" style="border-image: none; float: right; display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="Card-1wm" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-wnecMe5UBpc/Wg9y22juOgI/AAAAAAAAGdE/sb3e-hlyyyQ3pLifWM2K6RPuEEBBzJydwCHMYCw/Card-1wm_thumb%255B2%255D?imgmax=800" border="0"></a>For my last card, I used a more difficult (but not too difficult) technique. Once everything was in place, I sponged some <strong><a href="http://rangerink.com/?product=tim-holtz%C2%AE-distress-ink-pads" target="_blank">Tattered Rose Tim Holtz Distress Ink</a></strong> across the top of the circle. I pulled the mask off to reveal a beautiful moonlit sky over the water. </font></span></p><p style="line-height: 1.38; margin-top: 0pt; margin-bottom: 21pt;" dir="ltr"><span style="vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"><font style="font-size: 13pt;">I used the large stamp from <a href="https://www.simonsaysstamp.com/product/Inkadinkado-Clear-Stamps-MEADOW-60-30496-31029" target="_blank"><strong>Inkadinkado Meadow</strong></a> and stamped portions of it onto the finished piece in some <strong><a href="https://www.simonsaysstamp.com/product/VersaFine-ONYX-BLACK-Ink-Pad-Pigment-Tsukineko-VF-82-23812" target="_blank">VersaFine Onyx black ink</a></strong>. I adhered the finished circle to a piece of white cardstock that I had cut out with my new stitched rectangle die. I stamped an <strong><a href="http://www.averyelle.com/sentimental-clear-stamps/" target="_blank">Avery Elle sentiment</a></strong> onto the cardstock under the circle and then adhered that piece to another piece of white cardstock just slightly larger. Then I popped that up with some dimensional dots onto a 4.25-inch wide X 5.5-inch high white card base to complete the card. I would still consider this a clean & simple card with several layers.<br><span style="vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"><span style="vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"><font style="font-size: 13pt;"><br>Now you’re off to visit with </font></span><font style="font-size: 13pt;"><span style="vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">the amazing and talented <a href="http://katydidcards.com/november-technique-blog-hop-masking-magic/" target="_blank"><strong><font size="4">Kim over on Katydid Cards</font></strong></a></span></font><span style="vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"><font style="font-size: 13pt;">.
